Kalimat Conditional Sentence, Pola-Polanya, Inversinya Dan Variasi Serta Contohnya
Conditional sentence bisa diartikan dengan kalimat bersyarat dan juga sebagai kalimat pengandaian. Conditional sentence disebut sebagai kalimat bersyarat karena menyatakan sesuatu yang mungkin terjadi jika syaratnya terpenuhi, sedangkan disebut sebagai kalimat pengandaian karena menyatakan sesuatu yang tidak sesuai dengan kenyataan (fakta) yang ada. Conjuction yang digunakan untuk mengungkapkan Conditional sentence adalah "if"
A. Pola-Pola Conditional sentence
1. Type 1 Harapan (real conditional in future or present)
Disebut real conditional in future or present karena kemungkinan terjadi sangat besar
Contoh :
Seekor kucing akan mencakar anda, jika anda menarik ekornya
A cat will scratch you if you pull its tail. Or
If you pull the cat's tail, it will scratch you
Jika cuaca besok baik, kami akan pergi kepantai
If the weather is good tomorrow, I will go to the beach
Note :
Time signal yang digunakan pada type 1 diatas adalah time signal milik present dan futura (today, adverb of frequency, now, tomorrow, etc)
2. Type 2 Hayalan (unreal condition in present or future)
Disebut unreal condition in present or future karena bertenatangan dengan saat ini dan juga esok. Artinya kemungkinan terjadinya sangat kecil.
Fact : Simple present
Contoh :
Jika saya sakit pada hari ini, saya tidak akan bertemu kalian
If I were sick today, I wouldn't meet you. Or
I would't meet you if I were sick today
Fact : Hari ini saya tidak sakit, sehingga saya bertemu kalian
I'm not sick today, so I meet you
Note : Time signal yang digunakan pada type 2 sama seperti type 1
3. Type 3 Penyesalan (unreal condition in past)
Disebut unreal condition in past karena bertentangan dengan kenyataan yang sudah terjadi, artinya kemungkinan terjadinya tidak ada.
Contoh :
Jika kemarin aku mengajaknya, dia tidak akan marah
If I had invited her yesterday, she wouldn't have been angry. Or
She would't have been angry if I had invited her yesterday
Fact : Kemarin saya tidak mengajaknya, jadi dia marah
I didn't invite her yesterday, so she was angry
4. Mixed 1
Mixed time dalam conditional sentence merupakan perpaduan antara main clause pada type yang satu dengan sub clause pada type yang lain. Adapun syarat-syarat dalam membuat pola mixed time adalah sebagai berikut :
- Conditional sentence harus mempunyai fakta
- Pada umumnya terdapat time signal
- Terdapat hubungan sebab akibat (cause and effect)
- Kejadian yang sudah lewat (lampua) masih berhubungan dengan sekarang

Fact : Ayu doesn't celebrated her birthday today, so she didn't prepared everithyng

Mixed 1 : Sebabnya lampau sedangkan akibatnya sekarang
Mixed 2 : Sebabnya sekarang sedangkan akibatnya kemarin
B. Inversi
Pola inversi adalah pola susun balik antara subject dengan verb-nya. Dalam conditional sentence pola ini dugunakan untuk menghilangkan conjuction if, namun ssecara tersirat makna if tersebut masih tetap ada.
1. Type 1 (Harapan)
From : Should+S+V1, Main Caluse
Note :
Type 1 bisa diinversi dengan syarat sub clause-nya mengandung modal sould yang berarti "kebetulan", dan biasanya main clause-nya berupa inperative sentence (kalimat perintah).
Contoh :
Jika anda kebetulan bertemu dia, tolong sampaikan salamku padanya
SC : If you should meet her, please say hello to her
Fact : -
Inversi : Should you meet her, please say hello to her
2. Type 2
From : were+S (not)+3C, Main Clause
Note :
Conditional type 2 hanya bisa diinversi apabila sub clause-nya berupa kalimat nominal
Contoh :
Jika saya menjadi anda, saya akan berusaha mendapatkannya
SC : If I were you, I would try to get it.
Fact ; I am not you so I don't try to get it
Inversi : were I you, I would try to get it
3. Type 3
Form :
Verbal : Had + S(not) +V3, Main Clause
Nominal : Had + S(not) +3C, Main Clause
Note :
Baik verbal maupun nominal, ketika type 3 semuanya bisa di inversi
Contoh :
Jika hari itu julia tidak pergi ke pasar, dia tidak akan mengalami kecelakaan
SC : If Julia hadn't gone to the market, she wouldn't have got an accident
Fact ; Julia went to the market, so she got an accident
Inversi : If Julia not gone to the market, she wouldn't have got an accident
C. Variasi Tenses
1. Type 1 (Harapan)
a. If Simple Present, Simple present
-Menunjukkan habitual action, biasanya disertai dengan adv of freq
Contoh :
If I don't have breakfast, I always get hungry during the class
-Menyatakan result
If it rains, the streest get wet
b. If present Continuos, Simple Future
-Menunjukkan aktifitas yang bersifat short term (temporal)
Contoh :
If you are waiting the bus, you should use your time to read a book
c. If Present Perfect, Simple Future
Contoh :
If I have written this letter, I will post it.
d. If Simple present, Imperative
Contoh :
If you meet her, please say hello to herl

-Memyatakan habit in the past, biasanya disertai dengan adv of freq
Contoh :
If felt bored, I usually went to the theatre
Fact : because I don't feel bored, I don't go to the theatre
b. If past continuous. Past Future
-Menyatakan peristiwa yang sifatnya temporal
Contoh :
If it were snowing, we wouid go climbing the mount
Fact : I was not living in pare last summer, so I was not studying English
Conditional sentence bisa diartikan dengan kalimat bersyarat dan juga sebagai kalimat pengandaian.
